AGT is proud to announce that a staff engineer has achieved Crestron DMC-E-4K certification in support of our growing Audio Visual (A/V) Integration practice. We are excited about expanding our certification portfolio and knowledge base, but how will this certification benefit our clients and partners?
First, let’s give everyone a quick background on 4K and the certification course itself—we know this is not all common knowledge. With four times the resolution of 1080p, 4K is meeting today’s demand for higher image quality, driven by applications such as digital signage, visualization, medical imaging, sports and others. Crestron DigitalMedia Certification courses, which include 4K training completed by AGT, give A/V professionals the knowledge and expertise to properly employ and support digital media systems that incorporate new and innovative technology. So what does this mean for us, our clients and our partners? We can now design and program 4K systems and have a thorough understanding of installation requirements, system testing and reporting processes.
While all of this sounds innovative and advanced, there’s a lot of chatter about 4K and if it is just a buzzword. Why do we need this expertise when 4K isn’t mainstream? It’s important to note it is all about resolution. High definition TV is 1080p (1920 x 1080), but the resolution of devices entering the marketplace are expanding at a fast rate. For example, as Crestron points out in the below ad, today’s 13” MacBook Pro with Retina has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600. Today’s latest devices have native resolutions that are simply too high for 1080p-class switchers to handle. Fortunately with our new certification, AGT can successfully address and solve these problems for our clients and partners and deploy 4K ready collaborative environments.
