Polycom Selects AGTs VCAS
as its Conference Scheduling Solution
February 24, 2003 - Applied Global Technologies, a worldwide
provider of reliable and worry-free video communications,
announces the sale of its patent-pending software, VCAS, including
all source code, intellectual property, and patents to Polycom,
the world's leader in video and voice conferencing, conference
bridges, and integrated web collaboration solutions. The Polycom
purchase allows Applied Global to focus on its unique ability
to provide customized outsource IP conferencing solutions
to the marketplace. "As we have said all along, VCAS
is the best scheduling and network management solution on
the market today and now Polycom has put its stamp of approval
on our team's creation," stated Michael Valletutti, Applied
Global's CEO.
"As we look to the future, this is a win/win for both
companies and especially for our mutual customers." VCAS
was originally developed in 2000 by a team of AGT engineers
as a video network scheduling tool for the US Navy's worldwide
distance learning program. It has become the premier network
scheduling and management solution and is currently in use
in both the federal and commercial marketplace. "AGT's
success in sales and system integration internationally has
allowed us to support a dedicated Research and Development
team," added Ben Atha, President of AGT's Research &
Development. "Our industry leading R&D has been focused
for two years on the development of the best network management
and scheduling tool on the market." VCAS includes Network
Aware Scheduling, Network Management and Monitoring, and Room
Control. Polycom has renamed the product for release within
its Polycom Conference Suite software product line. "With
this asset acquisition, Polycom extends its market leadership
by providing the most comprehensive scheduling and video network
management to our customers," said Gary Alt, vice president
and general manager of network solutions at Polycom. "The
Polycom Conference Suite fills a need that many of our customers
have requested. The network aware technology in this software
suite provides capabilities not found in any other conference
scheduling software."
